Bafang Speed Controller Burnout<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the first controller, which mysteriously burnt out during a ride out. Not sure as to why it happend. The settings on the speed controller were limited to 28A at 48V, the BMS was limited to 40A. We contacted the supplier of the motor, who replaced the speed controller no questions asked !\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

If you have a smart BMS limit its output as a double safeguard ! Buy from\u00a0 a local supplier as replacement parts can be sent quicky.<\/strong>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

On receiving the new controller we limited the speed controller amps to 27A and the Smart battery amps to 27A also to be on the safe side. We fitted the speed controller which was an easy job, set it all up and so far after 361 miles we have had no problem. I have a feeling it was just a bad speed controller.
