The bridge that rises for boats, bit of a wait for us here
Pulling into the Campsite in Buitenkaag at 12pm
We booked this site for 4 nights with electric, for 8 m camper and 4 m bike trailer. IT cost €90 we were put on the end of a grass tent field! The ground is soft, not level and was good for 11m max. The electric was reversed, I tested it to show the staff and they all agreed. Then the owner turned up, an old women in a wheelchair. She was having some problem agreeing with anyone and it was nothing to do with them, she said it had been working for 30 years. Myself and a member of staff calmed her down. I did not ask about the pich being too small or not level, did not what to give her a heart attack! We got a refund and left worrying about the other campers that were using the power in tents, in the rain. You can get a electrical socket tester for less than €10 and it can save your €50'000 camper, its a real simple fix. Costs very little, its a shame this site is not safe and it should be closed until the simple work is done. Moved less than 10km to next site and it is brilliant .... thank to the batty old women we found a better place.
Overview of the whole trip so far
Just a short drive down the A44 past Buitenhaag
On through Abbenes to the Kaagweg
Arrived at the new campsite at 1.06pm
We like it much more at this new campsite, so we drew a little heart with the tracking app.
Our current centre of communications
We learnt a few lessons today, about how some people can not acknowledge what is directly in front of them, seemingly to preserve their status qo because of the time/energy or money they have invested.
Think of it this way to build a proper bridge you need anchor it on both sides. If the bridge has fallen down, you will not make it to the other side. You can not pretend it is ok because it has worked for years....you will end up in the river!
The ability to critically asess a situation, act in the moment and apply the appropriate solution that is beneficial for all....call it common sense, something that is swiftly becoming extinct so it would seem.....
but for now now we can get a good evenings rest.
